No More BlogRush

Blogrush Widget

After closely watching my stats for weeks to see how much traffic BlogRush has been bringing in, I finally decided that it was not worth the space it was consuming and dropped the widget.

When I first started using BlogRush I received a huge amount of traffic – thousands of hits over just a few days. But slowly traffic dwindled, then after moving the blog here to the new domain last month, traffic from BlogRush has dropped to only 2 or 3 hits per week.

I still have a tremendous amount of respect for John Reese and I am more than willing to give BlogRush a second chance when 2.0 comes out – but in the meantime, I’m keeping with the theme of “less is more” on my blog.

How is BlogRush working for you on your blog? Please post a comment and let us know if it has brought you the amount of traffic that you expected.

  1. Not minutes after I made this post, I saw a new post in the BlogRush Blog that 10,000 shitty blogs are being removed from the Blogrush system this weekend. I may throw the widget back into the blog next week to see if it performs any better after all the riff-raff is out of the system.

  2. Yea , blogrush was a cool idea, BUT John should have had things more prepared like shoe does,

He kinda has ” I will be doing this soon” emails,

He should have planned more like shoe and had all the phases ready and then just released them one by one,

Not release something half ready and then rush to do other stuff,

I am really glad you made this post to , because this just goes to show that even the “big guys” can have some poor planning every now and then 🙂

  3. Yes I saw that too. I still haven’t put BlogRush in my new blog, but I still have it where I put it first when it came out. It never brings a significant amount of traffic, but why not having hope and letting users find related blogs, I don’t care really.

  4. The problem is that the “10,000 shitty blogs” they removed included a lot good blogs that their trained monkeys couldn’t distinguish from well designed splogs and marketing pages that the same chimps let pass through.

yeah – i read what happened to JohnCow – if they were not able to see that his was a ‘quality’ blog, i think they might be in trouble.

  6.
I just removed my BlogRush widget this week…no traffic from it at all…
since John Reese announced Blogrush 2.0, i put the widget back on the blog.. i’ve been getting a small amount of traffic it from it so far so i might just keep it on .
